The India Story

The India Story is a 2026 Indian Hindi-language social drama film directed by Chettan DK and written and produced by Sagar B Shinde. The film stars Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles, with a supporting cast including Murali Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, and Atul Tiwari. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 24, 2026.

Plot

The film follows Yogesh Patil (Shreyas Talpade), an army man whose seven-year-old daughter dies under mysterious circumstances linked to food adulteration and pesticide contamination. When he attempts to file a case against the corporations responsible, he is met with resistance from the system he once served. Advocate Archana (Kajal Aggarwal) takes on his case, uncovering a deeply corrupted system that threatens public health. Their journey for justice pits them against powerful entities and even the communities they aim to protect.

Production and Release

Presented by Zee Studios in association with MIG Production & Studios, the film is directed by Chettan DK and written and produced by Sagar B Shinde. The technical team includes cinematographer Nishant Bhagwat, music composer Mangesh Dhakde, editor Ashish Mhatre, and lyricist Shakeel Azami. The film is inspired by real events and claims, including the story of the 'Cancer Train' in Punjab, and was shot across multiple states in India using real crowds for large-scale sequences to maintain authenticity. The movie was initially slated for an August 2025 release but was later moved to July 24, 2026.

Its release has been preceded by controversy, including a legal notice challenging the scientific claims in its promotional material and a wait for clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Director Chettan DK has stated that the CBFC did not ask for any cuts, and the team only made creative improvisations.
