The Huma Qureshi-led action thriller 'Baby Do Die Do' has proven to be a major disappointment at the Indian box office. On its seventeenth day of release (Day 17, third Friday), the film collected an estimated ₹8 lakh net in India. This marks a further decline from its Day 16 earnings of ₹12 lakh, confirming that the film has completely failed to find any audience traction even after more than two weeks of release.
With this performance, the film's total India net collection now stands at a dismal ₹5.81 crore across seventeen days, which translates to approximately ₹6.85 crore gross. The film's total reported collection across all circuits now stands at ₹5.61 crore, with the grand total including unreported estimates reaching ₹5.73 crore.
A Disastrous Run From Start to Finish
The film had concluded its opening week with ₹4.11 crore net in India (including unreported collections), driven by a modest debut that saw collections peak at ₹86 lakh on its first Sunday. The film's extended opening weekend of three days had closed at ₹1.81 crore, with daily collections of ₹40 lakh, ₹58 lakh, and ₹83 lakh on its first three days. However, the collections dropped to ₹41 lakh on Day 4, ₹36 lakh on Day 5, ₹50 lakh on Day 6, and ₹38 lakh on Day 7, showcasing the consistent struggle.
With the second weekend and weekdays adding minimal numbers, the film's total reported lifetime collection now stands at ₹5.61 crore across all circuits. The circuit-wise reported collections show Bombay leading with ₹1.52 crore, followed by Delhi-U.P. with ₹1.02 crore, South with ₹48.43 lakh, East Punjab with ₹32.23 lakh, and Bengal with ₹19.77 lakh.
The film features a talented ensemble cast including Huma Qureshi as Baby KarMarKar, alongside Sikandar Kher as Zafar, Chunky Pandey, Seema Pahwa as Anjum Khan, Rachit Singh as Siddhu, Vidya Malvade as Manju Murjhani, Himanshu Malik as Mukesh Murjhani, Marudhar Shekhawat as Manu, and others.
The film is directed by Nachiket Samant, known for 'Single Salma', who co-wrote the screenplay with Jasmeet K. Reen, Parveez Shaikh, and Gaurav Sharma. The technical team includes cinematographer Tojo Xavier, editors Nikhil Parihar and Ashish Tripathi, and music composer Arjun Iyer. The film is produced by Saqib Saleem under the Saleem Siblings banner in association with Pune-04 Picture, with Huma Qureshi also serving as a producer.
Confirmed Below Franchise Milestones
With ₹5.81 crore in seventeen days, 'Baby Do Die Do' is a major disappointment for the actress-producer. The film was reportedly made on an estimated budget of ₹25 crore and has only recovered about 23.24% of its budget so far. With collections now reduced to single-digit lakhs, the film is unlikely to add any significant amount in the coming days and is heading for a lifetime collection below ₹7 crore net in India, which would mean a recovery of less than 28% of its production cost.
The film's storyline, which follows a deaf-and-mute woman in Mumbai who carries out contract killings using a concealed gun hidden inside an umbrella, has failed to resonate with family audiences and the mass market. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics and some favorable word-of-mouth, the lack of strong marketing and limited screen count due to competition from 'Alpha', 'Welcome To The Jungle', and later 'Dhamaal 4' have contributed to its underwhelming theatrical run in India.
