Huma Qureshi and Sikandar Kher's Baby Do Die Do continues its painful journey at the Indian box office. On its 20th day of release, the crime thriller collected an estimated ₹0.06 crore net in India, marking yet another dismal day for the film.
The day-wise breakdown tells a story of a complete collapse at the box office. After a modest first week of ₹3.43 crore, the film's second week collections totalled just ₹1.29 crore. The third week has been catastrophic, with collections falling to single-digit lakhs. The total India net collection for the film now stands at approximately ₹5.61 crore, with the India gross collection at ₹6.62 crore. The film has recovered only 22.44% of its ₹25 crore budget, with a staggering deficit of ₹19.39 crore.
A Star-Studded Affair That Failed to Connect
The film's performance is particularly disappointing given the pedigree of the team involved. Directed by Nachiket Samant, who also wrote the screenplay with Gaurav Sharma, the film boasted a talented ensemble cast including Huma Qureshi as Baby, Sikandar Kher as Zafar, Chunky Pandey, Seema Pahwa, Rachit Singh, Vidya Malvade, Himanshu Malik, Marudhar Shekhawat, and Arun Kushwah. The technical crew was equally impressive, featuring cinematographer Tojo Xavier, editors Nikhil Parihar and Ashish Tripathi, music composer Arjun Iyer, and production designer Tariq Umar Khan.
The film was produced by Saqib Saleem under the Saleem Siblings banner in association with Pune-04 Picture. Despite positive reviews for Huma Qureshi's performance as a deaf-mute hitwoman, the film failed to connect with audiences. The film faced stiff competition from major releases like 'Alpha', 'Dhamaal 4', and 'Welcome to the Jungle', which occupied the majority of screens.
With its theatrical run now effectively over, Baby Do Die Do stands as a cautionary tale for mid-budget filmmaking. The film has officially been declared a 'Flop' at the Indian box office, and its lifetime collection is expected to remain well below the ₹6 crore mark.
