The Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer I, Nobody has hit a rough patch at the box office. On its 8th day of release, the action thriller, directed by Nisam Basheer, collected a dismal ₹0.16 crore net in India. This marks a staggering 92.7% drop from its opening day numbers, signaling a significant loss of audience interest.
The film, which also features Parvathy Thiruvothu in a pivotal role, had a decent start with ₹2.2 crore on its opening day. However, the momentum could not be sustained. The day-wise breakdown shows a fluctuating trend: after the opening, the film collected ₹1.25 crore on Day 2, ₹1.60 crore on Day 3, ₹1.40 crore on Day 4, and then slipped to lower single-digit figures of ₹0.55 crore, ₹0.33 crore, and ₹0.47 crore on Days 5, 6, and 7 respectively. The total India net collection for the week now stands at ₹7.96 crore.
A Disappointing Trajectory for a High-Profile Project
The film's performance is particularly underwhelming given the pedigree of the team involved. I, Nobody marks the reunion of director Nisam Basheer and writer Sameer Abdul, who previously delivered the critically acclaimed film Rorschach. Despite the anticipation, I, Nobody has failed to replicate that success. The film is produced by Supriya Menon, Mukesh R. Mehta, and C. V. Sarathi, and features a strong technical crew including cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman, editor Ramees M. B., and music composer Jakes Bejoy. The cast also includes Hakkim Shahjahan, Ashokan, and Vijayaraghavan in key roles.
The worldwide collection of the film has also been impacted by the poor domestic run. While it has managed to collect around ₹7 crore from the overseas markets, the total worldwide gross stands at a modest ₹15.38 crore. Trade analysts suggest that the film's extended runtime and a mixed response to its second half have contributed to its box office struggle.
With the second weekend approaching, it appears that I, Nobody is running out of steam. The film's ability to hold onto screens will depend on its performance over the next few days, but with such a steep decline, a recovery seems unlikely.
