After a promising opening weekend, Atharvaa's Idhayam Murali faced its first major test on Monday and emerged with flying colours. The romantic drama collected a steady Rs 1.50 crore net on its fourth day, a crucial first Monday that often makes or breaks a film's theatrical run.
The film's day-wise journey has been impressive. After opening with Rs 1.90 crore on Friday, it witnessed a massive surge to Rs 3.50 crore on Saturday and peaked at Rs 3.80 crore on Sunday. The Monday collection, while representing a dip from the opening day, is well within expected norms and signals strong audience retention.
The film's total India net collection now stands at a commendable Rs 10.70 crore, with India gross reaching Rs 12.31 crore. The international market has also responded positively, contributing significantly in gross collections, pushing the worldwide gross to an impressive Rs 15.81 crore.
Directed by debutant Aakash Baskaran, who also wrote and produced the film, the coming-of-age love story has found its strongest footing in Tamil Nadu, which accounts for the majority of the total India gross. Karnataka has emerged as the second-best performing market, followed by Kerala.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Atharvaa, alongside Kayadu Lohar and Preity Mukhundhan in lead roles, with Fahadh Faasil in a key appearance. The technical team is powered by music composer Thaman S, who also acts in the film, cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, and editor Pradeep E Ragav. With a production budget of Rs 25 crore, the film has already recovered over 40% of its costs within four days, setting the stage for a profitable run.
Despite competition from other releases, Idhayam Murali has managed to hold its ground. The film's ability to sustain audience interest through the weekdays will be crucial in determining its overall success. With positive word-of-mouth and the upcoming second weekend, the film is poised for a steady theatrical run.
