Idhayam Murali Box Office Collection Day 7: Atharvaa's Romantic Drama Becomes His Second Highest-Grosser
Atharvaa and Preity Mukhundhan's Tamil romantic drama 'Idhayam Murali' concluded its first week with a total India net collection of Rs 14.14 crore, surpassing the actor's 2025 release DNA to become his second-highest-grossing film.

The Atharvaa-starrer 'Idhayam Murali' has wrapped up its opening week on a successful note, achieving a significant milestone in the actor's career. The coming-of-age romantic drama, directed by debutant Aakash Baskaran, has emerged as Atharvaa's second-highest-grossing film, surpassing his 2025 release DNA.

On its seventh day (Thursday, July 16), the film earned approximately Rs 0.96 crore net in India across 1,387 screens, marking the first time its daily collection dipped below the Rs 1 crore mark. Despite this, the film's total India net collection stands at a commendable Rs 14.14 crore, with the India gross collection at Rs 16.35 crore and a worldwide gross of Rs 20.78 crore.

The film features Atharvaa in the titular role of Idhaya, alongside Preity Mukhundhan, Kayadu Lohar, and a special appearance by Fahadh Faasil. The ensemble cast also includes Thaman S, who returns to acting after 22 years and doubles as the film's music composer, along with Natty Subramaniam, Rakshan, Sudhakar, Niharika NM, and Jonita Gandhi in a cameo. The technical crew includes cinematographers Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai, with editing by Pradeep E Ragav.

The film's box office journey began with a strong opening of Rs 1.9 crore on its first Friday. It witnessed remarkable weekend growth, collecting Rs 3.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.8 crore on Sunday. As expected, collections dipped to Rs 1.5 crore on Monday, eased further to Rs 1.23 crore on Tuesday before a rare 1.6% mid-week growth to Rs 1.25 crore on Wednesday.

This performance positions 'Idhayam Murali' as Atharvaa's second-highest grosser, behind only Parasakthi (Rs 52.5 crore), which featured him in a key role alongside Sivakarthikeyan. The film has already recovered 56% of its modest Rs 25 crore budget within its opening week, suggesting a promising financial outlook.

With Thalapathy Vijay's highly anticipated Jana Nayagan set to release on July 23 and occupy most screens, 'Idhayam Murali' has one more week of uninterrupted run to maximize its collections. As the film enters its second weekend, positive word-of-mouth and the upcoming holiday period are expected to provide a boost, helping the film cross the Rs 20 crore net milestone in India.
