The Odyssey Box Office Collection Day 7: Christopher Nolan's Epic Crosses ₹100 Crore Gross in India, Ends First Week on a High
Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' continues its record-breaking run on Day 7, collecting ₹6.15 crore net in India. The film has crossed the ₹100 crore gross milestone in India, becoming only the 21st Hollywood film to achieve this feat.

Christopher Nolan's cinematic epic 'The Odyssey' has wrapped up its opening week on a spectacular note, achieving a significant milestone at the Indian box office. On its seventh day of release (Day 7, Thursday), the film collected an estimated net total of approximately ₹6.15 crore in India across 11,111 shows, bringing its India net collection to ₹90.30 crore and its India gross to ₹107.72 crore.

With this consistent performance, 'The Odyssey' has crossed the coveted ₹100 crore gross mark in India, becoming only the 21st Hollywood film to reach this milestone in the Indian market. It is also Christopher Nolan's second film to enter the elite club after 'Oppenheimer', which finished its theatrical run in India with ₹128.46 crore.

First Week Box Office Performance

The film's journey in India has been nothing short of spectacular. After a massive opening of ₹17.40 crore on Friday, the film enjoyed a strong weekend with collections of ₹22 crore on Saturday and ₹21.90 crore on Sunday, bringing the opening weekend total to over ₹61 crore. As expected, weekday collections saw a dip with ₹8 crore on Monday and ₹8.35 crore on Tuesday, followed by ₹6.50 crore on Wednesday and ₹6.15 crore on Thursday. The Day 7 collection represented a 5.4% drop from the previous day's earnings, reflecting the natural weekday slowdown while still maintaining strong hold.

The original English version has been the dominant contributor, accounting for nearly ₹66.55 crore of the total India net collection. The Hindi dubbed version has added ₹10.25 crore, Telugu ₹4.55 crore, and Tamil ₹2.80 crore to the overall tally. IMAX screenings have played a crucial role, drawing huge crowds across metropolitan cities.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, who also wrote the screenplay based on Homer's ancient Greek epic, 'The Odyssey' features an ensemble cast including Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, and Charlize Theron. The film is produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner, with cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema, editing by Jennifer Lame, and music composed by Ludwig Göransson.

Global Box Office Dominance

On the global stage, 'The Odyssey' has delivered one of the strongest theatrical debuts in recent years. The film has grossed approximately $332 million worldwide during its opening week, marking Nolan's biggest career opening. The film earned $181 million in North America and $141 million from international markets. The film's IMAX performance has been particularly noteworthy, generating record-breaking numbers from IMAX screenings worldwide.

Compared to Nolan's previous blockbuster 'Oppenheimer', 'The Odyssey' is performing significantly ahead. Oppenheimer had collected $10.6 million on its first Wednesday, whereas 'The Odyssey' earned $18.05 million, running roughly 54% ahead of Oppenheimer at the same stage.

The film's storyline, which follows Odysseus's perilous journey home after the Trojan War and his encounters with mythical beings as he attempts to reunite with his wife Penelope, has resonated with audiences across the globe. The film has become Nolan's highest opening in 48 countries, including France, Italy, Brazil, and India.
