After a promising start, the Alia Bhatt and Sharvari-led spy thriller Alpha is witnessing a substantial slowdown at the Indian box office. On its 11th day, the second Monday, the film collected an estimated Rs 90 lakh net in India. This marks a steep decline as the film enters its crucial second week.
With this Day 11 collection, the film's total India net collection has reached approximately Rs 54.95 crore, while its India gross stands at an estimated Rs 64.84 crore. The film, which is the seventh installment in the YRF Spy Universe, had a decent opening weekend but has since failed to maintain strong momentum.
Directed by Shiv Rawail in his feature film debut and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, the film features a script by Soumil Shukla, Shridhar Raghavan, and Ishita Moitra, from an original story by Uday Chopra. The cast includes Alia Bhatt as Sita, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor as Colonel Vikrant Kaul, and Bobby Deol as Fateh Singh Lakhawat, with Hrithik Roshan making a cameo appearance.
The film's journey so far has been underwhelming. After opening with Rs 9.25 crore on its first Friday, the first weekend totaled Rs 34 crore. However, the collection plummeted during the weekdays of its first week. The second weekend showed minimal growth, and the Day 11 collection of Rs 90 lakh suggests the film is heading for a premature end to its theatrical run.
Despite the overall disappointing performance, the film has achieved a notable milestone. It has surpassed the lifetime collections of Mardaani 3 (Rs 52.99 crore) to rank 6th among YRF's post-COVID releases. It is also on track to enter Bollywood's top 10 grossers of 2026 in India. However, with a reported budget of around Rs 100-130 crore, the film is expected to be declared a box office flop.
The film currently requires a strong hold in the coming days to avoid further embarrassment, but its fate seems sealed as it struggles to maintain a foothold in theatres.
