The Yash Raj Films spy thriller 'Alpha' continues its underwhelming run at the box office, struggling to find momentum in its second week. Starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles, the film has managed to hold steady on Day 13, though collections remain modest compared to its predecessors in the Spy Universe.
On its thirteenth day (Wednesday, July 15), the film added an estimated Rs 0.75 crore to Rs 0.90 crore net to its India total, pushing its total India net collection to approximately Rs 56.75 crore, with the India gross collection standing at around Rs 66.97 crore. The worldwide gross collection now stands at an estimated Rs 94.09 crore, with overseas markets contributing Rs 27.12 crore to the total.
Directed by Shiv Rawail in his feature film debut and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, 'Alpha' features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and a special cameo by Hrithik Roshan as Kabir. The film is based on a script written by Soumil Shukla, Shridhar Raghavan, Ishita Moitra, and Uday Chopra. The technical crew includes cinematographer Rubais, editor Aarif Sheikh, and music composers Rohansh & Abeer.
Despite being the first female-led entry in the YRF Spy Universe, 'Alpha' has failed to replicate the box office success of its predecessors. The film opened with a modest Rs 9.25 crore on its first Friday, showed healthy weekend growth with Rs 11.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 13.25 crore on Sunday, but witnessed a sharp weekday decline. The first week total stood at Rs 47.45 crore, while the second week has been significantly slower.
Currently, 'Alpha' is Sharvari's 3rd highest-grossing film in India, surpassing Vedaa (Rs 22.5 crore). To claim the 2nd spot, it must beat Main Vaapas Aaunga (Rs 62.82 crore), which is still Rs 6.07 crore away. Globally, the film needs less than Rs 1 crore to overtake Main Vaapas Aaunga and become the 8th highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2026.
Made on a reported budget of Rs 100 crore, the film has yet to recover its estimated cost at the worldwide box office, making it a significant disappointment for YRF. With new releases expected in the coming weeks, the spy thriller faces an uphill battle to cross the Rs 100 crore milestone worldwide.
