Alpha Box Office Collection Day 20: Alia Bhatt's Spy Thriller Crosses 59 Crore, But Massive Losses Loom
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's action thriller 'Alpha' collected an estimated ₹0.18 crore on Day 20, pushing its total India net collection past ₹59 crore. Despite entering the top 10 Bollywood grossers of 2026, the film remains a massive commercial disappointment with losses estimated at over ₹40 crore.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's Alpha continues its disappointing run at the Indian box office as it enters its fourth week. On its 20th day of release, the spy action thriller collected an estimated ₹0.18 crore net in India, marking yet another low point for the YRF Spy Universe film.

Despite this modest addition, the film's total India net collection has now crossed the ₹59 crore mark, with cumulative earnings reaching approximately ₹59.18 crore. The India gross collection stands at ₹69.83 crore, while the worldwide gross has touched ₹97.98 crore. However, against a reported budget of ₹100 crore, the film is facing a massive deficit of over ₹40 crore, making it one of the biggest commercial disappointments of the year.

A Star-Studded Affair That Failed to Deliver

The film's performance is particularly shocking given the pedigree of the team involved. Directed by Shiv Rawail in his feature debut, the film was produced by Aditya Chopra under the prestigious Yash Raj Films banner. The film boasted a talented ensemble cast including Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, with a special cameo by Hrithik Roshan. The technical crew was equally impressive, featuring cinematographer Rubais, editor Aarif Sheikh, and music composers Rohansh & Abeer for songs with background score by Sanchit and Ankit Balhara.

Despite the high expectations from the YRF Spy Universe brand, the film failed to connect with audiences. The film's day-wise trajectory shows a steady decline: after a decent first week of ₹48.4 crore, the film's second week collections totalled just ₹8.4 crore. The third week added only ₹3.4 crore, and the fourth week has been minimal. The film has recovered just 59% of its budget, resulting in a significant loss for the producers.

While Alpha has managed to enter the top 10 highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2026 in India, the milestone offers little consolation given the massive budget involved. The film serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of high-budget filmmaking in today's market, even for established franchises like the YRF Spy Universe. With its theatrical run now effectively over, the film's lifetime collection is expected to remain well below the ₹60 crore mark in India.
