Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's Alpha continues its underwhelming run at the Indian box office as it enters its fourth week. On its 21st day of release (third Thursday), the spy action thriller collected an estimated ₹0.17 crore net in India, with overall Hindi occupancy hovering around 9%.
Despite the modest weekday collections, the film has managed to push its total India net collection to approximately ₹58.43 crore, with the India gross collection at ₹68.95 crore. Overseas, the film has grossed ₹28.15 crore, taking the worldwide gross collection to ₹97.25 crore. While the film is inching closer to the ₹100 crore worldwide mark, it remains a commercial disappointment given its reported budget of ₹100 crore.
Directed by Shiv Rawail in his feature debut, the film was produced by Aditya Chopra under the prestigious Yash Raj Films banner. The film boasted a talented ensemble cast including Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. The screenplay was penned by Soumil Shukla and Shridhar Raghavan, with cinematography by Rubais and editing by Aarif Sheikh. The music was composed by Rohansh & Abeer, with background score by Sanchit and Ankit Balhara.
The film's day-wise trajectory has been disappointing from the start. After a decent first week of ₹48.4 crore, the film's second week collections totalled just ₹8.4 crore. The third week has been even more dismal, adding only ₹1.63 crore to its total. The film has recovered just 58% of its budget, resulting in significant losses for the producers.
While Alpha has managed to feature in the top 10 highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2026 in India, the milestone offers little consolation given the massive budget involved. The film serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of high-budget filmmaking in today's market. With its theatrical run effectively winding down, the film's lifetime collection is expected to remain well below the ₹60 crore mark in India.
