The YRF Spy Universe's first female-led chapter, Alpha, faced its toughest test yet on the eighth day as it entered the second week of its theatrical run. The Alia Bhatt and Sharvari starrer witnessed a sharp decline in collections on its second Friday, primarily due to the arrival of the Ajay Devgn-led comedy Dhamaal 4, which occupied a significant chunk of screens across the country.
According to early trade estimates, Alpha collected approximately Rs 1.65 crore net across India on Day 8, marking its lowest single-day haul since release. The film's show count was drastically reduced from over 7,000 to just 4,831 shows as multiplexes allocated prime slots to the new releases. Despite the sharp drop, the film did manage to cross the Rs 50 crore net milestone in India, with its total net collection now standing at Rs 50.05 crore after eight days.
In terms of occupancy, the film recorded an overall average of 12.89% for the Hindi 2D version. The day started with a quiet morning at 5.85% occupancy, which improved slightly to 10.15% in the afternoon. The evening shows saw a further rise to 14.23%, and the night shows peaked at 18.38%, indicating that there is still lingering interest among urban audiences even with fewer shows available.
Directed by Shiv Rawail—who is celebrated for his work on The Railway Men—and produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, Alpha features a powerhouse cast. Alia Bhatt leads the charge as the fearless agent Sita, while Sharvari plays a key operative in the mission. The film also features Anil Kapoor as RAW Chief Vikrant Kaul and Bobby Deol as the formidable antagonist Fateh Singh Lakhawat. Hrithik Roshan makes a special appearance as the beloved spy Kabir Dhaliwal, creating a major buzz among fans of the spy universe. The screenplay, crafted by Soumil Shukla and Shridhar Raghavan with dialogues by Ishita Moitra, anchors the narrative, while Rubais' cinematography and the background score by Rohansh & Abeer and Sanchit Balhara lend the film its edgy visual and auditory flair.
On the global stage, Alpha has amassed a gross of Rs 82.06 crore worldwide, with Rs 58.51 crore coming from the domestic market and Rs 23.55 crore from overseas circuits. This positions the film as the ninth highest-grossing Indian film of 2026, having surpassed Mardaani 3 (Rs 76 crore) in global collections. The film now requires approximately Rs 5.72 crore more to overtake Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and secure the 8th spot on the list of highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2026.
Despite the star power and franchise connection, the film's performance has been underwhelming, given its reported budget of around Rs 100 crore. With Dhamaal 4 expected to dominate screens through the weekend, Alpha will need a significant turnaround in the coming days to improve its commercial prospects.
