Evil Dead Burn Box Office Collection Day 5: Horror Film Shows Gutsy Recovery, Earns Rs 2.70 Crore on Tuesday
The supernatural horror film 'Evil Dead Burn' staged a strong recovery on its first Tuesday, collecting Rs 2.70 crore net after a Monday slump. The film's total India net collection now stands at Rs 17.45 crore.

The latest chapter in the iconic horror franchise, Evil Dead Burn, is proving to be a resilient force at the Indian box office. After a promising opening weekend, the film faced the inevitable Monday blues but bounced back with a vengeance on its fifth day. According to early trade estimates, the film collected a solid Rs 2.70 crore net on Tuesday, marking a significant recovery from Monday's Rs 2.10 crore.

This uptick on the first Tuesday pushed the film's total India net collection to a commendable Rs 17.45 crore, while its India gross now stands at Rs 20.55 crore. The film's day-wise journey has been a classic example of a weekend-warrior trend. After a release on July 10, 2026, it kicked off with Rs 3.30 crore on its opening Friday, saw its collections soar to Rs 4.45 crore on Saturday, and peaked at Rs 4.90 crore on Sunday. As expected, the first Monday witnessed a significant dip, but the Tuesday recovery of nearly 28.5% indicates strong word-of-mouth and sustained audience interest for the gory spectacle.

The film's occupancy trends further validate its hold on the audience. The English version maintained a healthy overall occupancy of 31.63% on Tuesday, with evening and night shows recording the strongest numbers at 38.22% and 38.33%, respectively. The Hindi version also put up a robust performance, registering an overall occupancy of 33.15%, while the Tamil version garnered 28.02%. The film continues to perform well in major markets like NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Chennai.

Directed by Sébastien Vanicek, who co-wrote the script with Florent Bernard, Evil Dead Burn is the sixth installment in the long-running franchise and serves as a standalone sequel to 2023's Evil Dead Rise. The film brings a fresh yet brutal vision to the series, moving the action to an isolated family home. The cast is led by Souheila Yacoub as Alice, a widow whose grief-stricken family gathering turns into a demonic nightmare. She is joined by a talented ensemble including Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Erroll Shand, Tandi Wright, and Maude Davey. The film also marks a reunion for the franchise, with original creator Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert serving as producers, while Bruce Campbell is on board as an executive producer.

While the film has opened to mixed reviews, with some critics praising its unrelenting brutality and practical effects, others have found it derivative and overlong. However, the commercial success of Evil Dead Burn underscores the enduring appeal of the franchise. With no major Hollywood horror competition in the coming week, the film is poised for a steady run, although it will face a significant challenge from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey on July 17. For now, the Deadites are commanding a solid presence at the Indian box office.
