The supernatural terror of 'Evil Dead Burn' continues to thrive at the Indian box office, as the Hollywood horror film wraps up its opening week on an impressive note. On its seventh day (Thursday, July 16), the film added an estimated Rs 2 crore gross to its India total, bringing its first-week gross collection to a commendable Rs 25.45 crore.
This performance marks a significant achievement for the sixth installment in the iconic Evil Dead franchise. The film has officially outperformed Curry Barker's Obsession, which grossed over Rs 22 crore in its opening week, to become the biggest opening week for a horror film in India in 2026.
Directed by French filmmaker Sébastien Vanicek and produced by horror legends Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, 'Evil Dead Burn' has maintained steady collections throughout its first week despite facing competition from multiple Indian releases. Starring Hunter Doohan, Souheila Yacoub, and Luciane Buchanan in lead roles, the film has performed best in South India, followed by major metropolitan cities.
The film's day-wise gross collection in India includes previews of Rs 0.65 crore, followed by Rs 3.30 crore on Day 1, Rs 5.40 crore on Day 2, Rs 6.00 crore on Day 3, Rs 2.50 crore on Day 4, Rs 3.35 crore on Day 5, Rs 2.25 crore on Day 6, and an estimated Rs 2.00 crore on Day 7.
Beyond its domestic performance, the film has also achieved another significant milestone by making India the biggest international opening weekend market for the film, outperforming every overseas territory outside North America. This underlines the franchise's strong fanbase in the country and the growing appetite for horror films among Indian audiences.
As 'Evil Dead Burn' enters its second weekend, it faces new competition from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. However, with positive word-of-mouth and limited direct competition in the horror genre, the film has an opportunity to extend its theatrical run. The film is on track to surpass the India lifetime collection of its franchise predecessor, Evil Dead Rise, which earned approximately Rs 39 crore gross in India.
